This year Casio was again present at Baselworld, the biggest international trade fair for watches and jewelry. In addition to the 811m² main booth there was also a smaller second one. Walbert-Schmitz built this 240m² two-story booth in cooperation with winandshoch3, based on the concept designed by a Japanese agency. The concept was for the booth to convey Japanese values such as technological leadership and innovation. This was achieved through the use of media technology and the exhibited watches.
A section of the stand with the impressive installation can be seen on the video. For many visitors this was a special highlight at the trade fair. The interplay of video projectors, light and the kinetic installation is specially challenging. Everything must be timed and positioned perfectly, for example, the twelve projectors had to be synchronized with the movements of the individual LED balls. The cinematic presentation as well as the selection and compilation of music required a long preparation time. To fine-tune the processes of the entire installation, its base had been previously built and tested at Walbert-Schmitz testing hall.
Handmade wooden elements made in Japan were integrated in the façade. The four meeting rooms upstairs were furnished with high-quality veneered walnut wood walls and custom-made furniture. The advanced media technology as well as the materials used for the stand reflect progressiveness and Japanese craftsmanship, making the entire booth an extraordinary experience.
